The first book is one I picked up on a recent trip to Puerto Rico. I found it in a quaint book shop in Old San Juan, although it is available for purchase through online book sites. “Caribbean Elegance” examines the history of the Caribbean islands from an architectural and design viewpoint, exploring the various European influences that helped shaped the style, craftsmanship and elegance of the region’s domestic aesthetics: Spanish, French, English and Dutch. There is heavy emphasis on the beautiful furniture of the old Caribbean with lush descriptions of the various materials that were used to make it. The photographs in the book are luxuriant and captivating, luring the reader further into the informative text.
